Titled "BLIND FOR LOVE," this book compiles images captured by British artist and photographer Nick Waplington during Gucci'sSpring/Summer 2017 Womenswear Collectionfashion show, held in the cloisters of Westminster Abbey in London this past June.
Known for his unvarnished depictions of British daily life, Waplington's work in this photobook captures candid moments backstage and throughout the venue, from the moments just before the fashion show to its conclusion.
The soundtrack for the fashion show featured a haunting arrangement of the traditional British ballad "Scarborough Fair," and its lyrics appear repeatedly throughout the photobook, enhancing the collection's visuals, which are deeply influenced by British heritage.
The photobook "BLIND FOR LOVE" is a limited edition of 1,000 copies, released by Assouline, a pioneering publisher specializing in culture. (Domestic release undecided). The book comes in a slide-open case, is bound with gilded edges, and features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth I on the cover.
While a domestic release is currently undecided, the book is priced at $95 USD, €90, or £60, and has been available worldwide since December 1st at Assouline stores and Assouline.com. It is also available at select retailers such as Colette in London, New York, and Paris, and at select bookstores including Palais de Tokyo in Paris.
