Experience Monet's World Through All Five Senses
— "Monet: 100 Years Since His Passing – Claude Monet: A Question of Landscape" at the ARTizon Museum
This exhibition enhances the art appreciation experience with collaborative menu items and original merchandise. "Monet: 100 Years Since His Passing – Claude Monet: A Question of Landscape," running until May 24 at the ARTizon Museum in Kyobashi, offers a multifaceted engagement with Monet's world through collaborative menus at the museum cafe and with Kyobashi Senbikiya, located opposite the museum.
The exhibition commemorates the 100th anniversary of the passing of Claude Monet, the master of Impressionism who dedicated his life to capturing the beauty of nature's changing light on canvas.
Forty-one works from the Musée d'Orsay in Paris, boasting the most important and comprehensive Monet collection, are brought to Japan. This includes masterpieces such as "Study of Figures in a Garden (Woman with a Parasol, Facing Right)," "Water Lily Pond, Green Harmony," and "The Luncheon," which is exhibited in Japan for the first time.
The museum cafe presents drinks inspired by Monet's garden in Giverny, such as "Monet's Garden in Giverny" and "Botanical Fizz - Garden Bathed in Light -," featuring delicate layers of botanical aromas, particularly those of aquatic plants.
The food menu includes "Cold Wagyu Pot-au-Feu with Seasonal Vegetables and Consommé Jelly," a starter inspired by "The Magpie" featuring slow-cooked wagyu beef and seasonal vegetables, and "Shrimp and Fruit Salad with Americaine Cream," themed around "The Luncheon."
The main course features "Rare Salmon Cutlet with Saffron Butter Sauce," inspired by "Houses of Parliament, London, in the Fog," while the dessert, "Mascarpone Mousse and Crème Fraîche Ice Cream," recreates the atmosphere of the same painting. The collaboration menu alone offers a complete course.
At Kyobashi Senbikiya's main store, "Monet ~Green Harmony~" is offered, inspired by "Water Lily Pond, Green Harmony." This dessert captures the essence of Monet's garden, using green as its base.
The plate dessert incorporates matcha mille-feuille, ginger jelly, and Anpo persimmon, reflecting Monet's appreciation for Japonisme. Coconut meringue mimics the "Japanese bridge" in his garden, all presented with Kyobashi Senbikiya's signature "Musk Melon."
In addition, a variety of Monet merchandise is available, including baked goods and strawberry jam in collaboration with Kyobashi Senbikiya, LUPICIA teas, T-shirts, and miscellaneous goods.
This Monet exhibition allows visitors to not only appreciate his masterpieces but also to experience his world through all five senses. Advance reservations are required for entry; same-day admission is subject to availability.
