Veuve Clicquot Solaire Culture – A 250-Year Legacy of Radiance
Veuve Clicquot marks its 250th anniversary in 2022. To commemorate this milestone, the maison is launching "Veuve Clicquot Solaire Culture – A 250-Year Legacy of Radiance," a traveling exhibition that embodies the brand's "solaire culture." The exhibition will have its world premiere in Japan at jing (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo) from Thursday, June 16 to Sunday, July 10, 2022, for 25 days, preceding its planned tours in four other countries.
Rare Treasures from Madame Clicquot on Display
As a brand that "shines like the sun," Veuve Clicquot delivers a beautiful lifestyle and experiences filled with "dreams, hope, and joy" through its iconic "yellow" hue. Founded in 1772, the maison celebrates its 250th anniversary this year, 2022.
To commemorate this occasion, the "Veuve Clicquot Solaire Culture – A 250-Year Legacy of Radiance" exhibition will be held, showcasing the maison's radiant "solaire culture." It has been announced that the exhibition will premiere in Japan at jing (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo), ahead of its upcoming tours in the United States, Australia, South Africa, and the United Kingdom.
This exhibition sheds light on Veuve Clicquot's 250-year history, featuring over 2,000 precious objects and an archive spanning 1 km in length from the Champagne region. Visitors can explore its heritage, savoir-faire, and cultural legacy through an immersive, multi-sensory experience.
Within the venue, rare documents will be exhibited, tracing the journey of Madame Clicquot, a woman of courage, individuality, and innovation, who was hailed as "La Grande Dame – the Great Lady of Champagne."
Among the highlights are 20 historical artifacts, including a letter with Madame Clicquot's handwritten signature, and a Veuve Clicquot bottle believed to have been crafted by Madame Clicquot herself in 1841 (later discovered in a shipwreck at the bottom of the Baltic Sea in the 19th century). This marks the first time the doors to Veuve Clicquot's most exceptional heritage have been opened. The exhibition also delves into the traditions of winemaking in the Champagne region through the maison's exquisite savoir-faire, and traces its cultural journey through iconic objects, literature, and film.
Additionally, a restaurant will offer guests the chance to savor Veuve Clicquot's Yellow Label and Rosé Label champagnes by the glass, paired with exquisite food. A boutique will also feature limited-edition anniversary products, reimagined with a modern and sustainable approach, celebrating 250 years of the brand's iconic creations that have garnered global acclaim.
Furthermore, the exhibition will showcase a special collection curated by 100% women, featuring top female creators from around the world, including contemporary artist Yayoi Kusama and manga artist Moyoco Anno. These artists have reinterpreted Veuve Clicquot's heritage for the modern era, presenting original works inspired by Madame Clicquot, her innovative contributions to Champagne, or the inspiring power of the sun.
This exhibition offers a unique opportunity to experience Veuve Clicquot's 250-year journey, embodying the brand's spirit of pursuing grand dreams and continuous innovation.
