Ryohin Keikaku, the company behind IDÉE and MUJI, will present the TOKYO MODERNISM SHOW 2026 from Thursday, November 12, to Sunday, November 15, 2026. This year, the event will take place across two venues: MUJI HOTEL GINZA and Ginza Sony Park. It will be the largest exhibition to date, showcasing the enduring appeal of modern design.

A Modern Design World Spanning Two Venues
The TOKYO MODERNISM SHOW began in 2022 as part of "Life in Art," an art project led by IDÉE and MUJI.
"Life in Art" promotes the concept of "art for daily life"—a philosophy that encourages us not just to view art and design as something remote and special, but to embrace and integrate them into our everyday routines.
Previous editions of the TOKYO MODERNISM SHOW have focused on the mid-century period from the 1940s to the 1960s, introducing exceptional designs created across the United States, Europe, Scandinavia, and Japan, offering visitors a chance to delve into the philosophies and narratives behind them.
Now in its fifth year, the event expands beyond MUJI HOTEL GINZA to include Ginza Sony Park as a new venue. This unprecedented two-venue setup promises an event of exceptional scale.
At MUJI HOTEL GINZA, guest rooms on the 7th and 8th floors will be transformed into temporary showrooms. Thirty galleries and vintage shops will participate, presenting and selling design pieces including furniture, lighting, and objets d'art from around the world. It will be a unique opportunity to encounter the stories and backgrounds behind these works.
Meanwhile, Ginza Sony Park will host exhibits across four floors, featuring displays from vintage galleries and manufacturers and brands shaping contemporary modern design, alongside curated selections cherished by private collectors.
This market event will bring together a diverse array of collections preserved by others—ranging from furniture and books to design products, textiles, and objets d'art.
The TOKYO MODERNISM SHOW 2026 presents design passed down through generations—across eras and regions—not as mere artifacts for observation, but as culture that thrives in our daily lives today.
