Based in New York, Nathan Sawaya is known as the first LEGO artist. His replicas of famous paintings and object series made from LEGO bricks have been exhibited in Singapore, Taiwan, and Australia. This “THE ART OF THE BRICK” exhibition is said to be the largest in scale among his solo shows to date, with 56 out of over 100 exhibited works being shown for the first time.
Through Sawaya’s technique, LEGO bricks, typically played with as toys, are transformed into contemporary art. His unique and impactful artworks have garnered high praise.
He has recreated masterpieces by great artists such as Munch's "The Scream," Leonardo da Vinci's "Mona Lisa," and Van Gogh's "Starry Night," as well as historically significant sculptures like the Sphinx and the Venus de Milo, all using LEGO bricks. Additionally, a nearly 6-meter-long skeleton of a carnivorous dinosaur (T-REX) can be viewed up close. Alongside artworks, his self-portrait "Face Mask," assembled from 10,770 LEGO bricks, is also on display.

“This exhibition taps into our inner child while also incorporating complex concepts. Everyone has played with LEGOs as a child. Since I started exhibiting LEGO art in 2007, my goal has been to elevate LEGO beyond just a toy,” says Nathan Sawaya. He hopes visitors will enjoy LEGO as art.
