Expressing Urban Mutation
Born in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France, in 1957, Stéphane Couturier has been based in Paris since 1990. His work explores the theme of urban "mutation," capturing buildings with a geometric and design-oriented approach, which he then reconstructs through photography. He is known for his unique style characterized by vibrant colors and strong compositions. His works have been exhibited in numerous museums worldwide, including the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the International Center of Photography in New York, and the Moscow Biennale, earning him international acclaim.
This exhibition marks Stéphane Couturier's first solo show in Asia. In addition to showcasing his representative series "The Melting Point" and "Landscaping," the exhibition will also feature photographic and video works themed around the "Louis Vuitton Foundation for Creation," currently under construction in Paris.
The "The Melting Point" series consists of works created by compositing photographs taken from two different viewpoints at the same location. Through digital manipulation, he transforms contemporary urban scenes—such as French palaces, cultural centers under reconstruction, the Brazilian presidential office, and the city of Barcelona—into landscapes that appear "mutated."

Photographing Frank Gehry's Latest Architecture
Also on display are works capturing the "Louis VuittonFoundation for Creation," a museum currently under construction in the Bois de Boulogne in Paris. The museum's design, known for its avant-garde silhouette, is by architectural master Frank Gehry. Stéphane Couturier highlights the distinctive design elements of the building, applying special photographic treatments to render it like a jewel. This exhibition offers an early glimpse of the museum, scheduled for completion in 2014.
