A heartwarming, humorous fairy tale world populated by animal-human hybrids.

Aiko Fukawa continues to depict unique fantasies and icons, including figures with animal faces, their surroundings, and still lifes from nature. After graduating from the Department of Design at Tokyo University of the Arts in 2005, she has worked on illustrations for advertisements, book covers, magazines, picture books, and stationery. She has also participated in campaigns for Lumine Yurakucho and McDonald's. Furthermore, she launched the brand 'ai,' which proposes various paper-crafted items, gaining high praise, particularly among female fans.



This exhibition, the largest to date, will showcase a new series of paintings that delve deeper into the expression of scenes and settings, centered around her iconic animal-human figures that represent her artistic style. In addition to 40 watercolor and acrylic paintings, both large and small, including past representative works, will be exhibited and sold. The event will also feature merchandise that seems to offer a window into a fantastical perspective for everyday life, such as new original bags, cushions, and tumblers, alongside popular items from 'ai'.



Additionally, on the opening day, Friday, January 18th, starting at 6:30 PM, a gallery talk will be held where Fukawa will discuss her work, with book designer Naoko Nakui serving as moderator.



Her charming graphics are composed of delicate, pale hues applied with an ultra-fine brush, creating intricate details that seem whispered onto the paper, balanced by gentle light and ample white space.
