David Shrigley
A British contemporary artist born in Macclesfield, England, in 1968. He studied at the Glasgow School of Art in Scotland and currently resides in Brighton, southern England. Shrigley was nominated for the prestigious Turner Prize in 2013, an award for British or UK-based artists. In 2016, his 7-meter bronze sculpture "Really Good," a thumbs-up gesture with an unusually long thumb, was selected for the "Fourth Plinth" project in London's Trafalgar Square, one of Britain's most significant public art initiatives, generating considerable buzz. Shrigley is known for his works incorporating a distinctly British black humor, with his witty drawings based on daily life being particularly popular. These are often featured on merchandise such as magazines, T-shirts, badges, and greeting cards.
