First Solo Exhibition in Kyushu
Yoshioka has undertaken numerous projects and spatial designs for world-renowned brands such as Issey Miyake, Swarovski, Cartier, Hermès, and Lexus. At this year's Milan Salone, held in Milan, Italy, he unveiled new works for leading Italian furniture brands Kartell, Glass Italia, and Moroso.
Furthermore, his works have been selected for permanent collections at major museums worldwide, including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, the Centre Pompidou, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Cooper Hewitt, National Design Museum, and the Vitra Design Museum.
The "Tokujin Yoshioka Exhibition: TORNADO" at the Saga Prefectural Art Museum marks Yoshioka's first solo exhibition in Kyushu.
Focus on the Installation "TORNADO"
The installation "TORNADO," displayed across the newly renovated museum galleries, features over two million transparent straws that fill the entire space like a vortex, offering a unique experience that prompts contemplation on the relationship between nature and humanity, and their future.
The exhibition also showcases Yoshioka's representative works, including the paper chair "Honey-pop," which garnered international attention upon its release in 2001; the glass bench "Water Block," permanently exhibited at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris; and the crystal chair "VENUS," created through natural crystallization.
