Designing Things You Can Reach, Try, and Feel
ItoAs I've been listening to you speak, I've been seeing an image... it's about your past life's soul. The past life that directly influences you in this life... you were a monk, a Buddhist monk.
TeiI see.
ItoYou were a monk living in a monastery with intricate and complex architectural beauty in China or Tibet. You chose that path willingly, so you seem to have been strict with yourself. You also had many disciples who were training monks, so you were a nurturing and magnanimous person. I believe you still have a strong sense of justice and mission, and that this is a disposition you've had from your past life's soul. You possess a magnanimity that respects individuals without being overly protective, and you conveyed to those around you that if they believe, they will surely succeed and their wishes will be granted.
TeiOh, wow! That's amazing!
ItoSo, why aren't you heading in a religious direction in this life? It seems that although you knew a high-class and beautiful world, you felt it was a waste for others to live their lives without experiencing it due to poverty or other reasons. You wondered how you could let them know about it.
TeiI see.
ItoBecause you strongly desired for everyone to experience the beautiful world you had seen, I believe you ended up in a profession dealing with everyday home appliances and mobile phones – things you can reach out to, try, and feel. Your soul has chosen to come here to realize in the present era what you couldn't achieve in your past life.
TeiI see.
ItoHowever, the expression has evolved further; you are now focused on how to disseminate and popularize what you find wonderful. Yet, it's not about forcing it on people; you're content if those who appreciate it come to you. It's no longer on a mountaintop, and it's not that kind of era anymore. Since it's within reach, there are many opportunities to be known, and that's enough. Also, those who lived religious lives in past lives deeply understand the preciousness of life and feel that "what I want to do now, I must do now, or it's a waste." Perhaps you are someone who can't rest unless you're moving?
TeiThat's exactly right. People often say I'm "multi-talented." I don't think of myself that way at all, though.
ItoNo, you are inherently multi-talented. In terms of your abilities.
TeiIs that so? But if you were on a deserted island, you'd have to do everything yourself, wouldn't you? Well, that's an exaggeration, but for example, the word "farmer" (百姓 - hyakushō) is written with the characters for "hundred" (百) and "surname" (姓). The goal is to grow crops, and to achieve that, you have to do various things. It's similar to that. In academia, fields like architecture, interior design, and product design are separated, but as a resident, you can't separate them once you're in a space. So, I decided to do it all.

The Village Creation Project "Echord" Currently Underway
ItoUltimately, you have a grand ambition to create an entire town where you yourself can live comfortably.
TeiThat's right.
ItoYou don't see each individual element as a "work." It's just one part of the process, and ultimately, your feeling is that if it leads to "a town where I can live comfortably = a town that everyone will like," then that's enough.
TeiThat's right. We've actually started in Bali.
ItoReally!?
TeiIt's more like village creation. We've set a design code, and people are building their own homes in a cooperative manner. The concept is "Echord." This is a coined word that harmonizes "ecology" and "economy," both of which have the root meaning of "home." Would you like to see some images that we can show you?
ItoYes, please!
TeiAfter all, architecture is the industry that generates the most waste. Given my profession, I can't stop working, but I felt I had to do something. I'm also applying for eco-certifications.

ItoWow! It's so spacious.
TeiIt's just under 8,000 tsubo, about 3.5 times the size of Omotesando Hills (laughs). It's not just a resort; we're also promoting local employment and giving back to the community. It's a truly wonderful place.
ItoYou must have been drawn to Bali as a location as well. You have a connection to places that bridge the East and West. However, I don't think you intend to stop there. Do you have aspirations for Japan in the future?
TeiThat's exactly right. First, I want to build a track record here...
ItoSo, ultimately, you want to create a town where you can live comfortably. In about two years, you'll start something new to fulfill a social mission. You'll begin it on your own, without anyone asking you to.
TeiI've been feeling a bit restless lately.
ItoI think that feeling is becoming clearer, and the signs are starting to appear. To get closer to that, I recommend gradually sharing your thoughts with those around you.
TeiI'm a bit shy (laughs). I can't say things directly. It's like, I want to write it on paper, put it in a bottle, and send it down a river!
ItoHahaha! That will take quite some time (laughs). But by conveying your opinions, you will steadily approach realization with stability.
ItoBy the way, ultimately, you intend to become a hero.
TeiA hero!? Should I practice my autograph then? (laughs)
ItoHahaha! It's more like a champion of justice, with a strong sense of "if I don't do it, who will?" You have an unshakeable sense of mission. In your past life, you were also a hero in a sense, reaching the pinnacle of your spiritual training. I believe you will achieve it through your own efforts and hard work.
