OPENERS Year in Review 2007 (3)

Hiroshi Ozawa
Stylist, NUMERO UNO Designer

GOODAs I approach my mid-40s, more people around me are facing death, serious illness, or unfortunate events. It feels like the 'Old Maid' card is getting closer to me, with fewer cards left. But it looks like I'll make it through this year without drawing the 'Old Maid.' Thank goodness.

BADI can't escape from any of my desires. I tell myself that just being alive and well is enough, but because I'm healthy and active, I can't break free from my desires, both mental and material. Perhaps those desires are what keep me going, but still...

Series | Collaboration Changes Everything

SHIBUYA-FM 78.4MHz
Shibuya's Community FM

GOOD
1) We've managed to continue, albeit quietly, entering our 12th year on air.
2) This year, we were able to broadcast the best selections from the best performing artists.
3) I had the opportunity to produce the reception for the launch of the Japanese edition of 'Rolling Stone' magazine.
4) Through JAZZIN’+SHIBUYA-FM, we were able to visit Tokyo, Nagoya, Kyoto, and Fukuoka.
5) OPENERS Series

BAD
1) We still receive too little reaction from listeners. I must reflect on this.
2) Life at SHIBUYA-FM has been full of valleys, with few peaks. No ease, much hardship. All I can do is laugh. Hahaha.
3) We haven't been able to start streaming as planned due to delays in copyright clearance.
4) As always, I'm not interested in the hit charts.

Ken Numata
Illustrator

GOODWhat was good this year is that my illustrations, which I've been serializing, received a response. I was deeply moved to find a reader who specifically wrote in a survey that they found it interesting. And since the reader was a young woman, my joy was all the greater. I even felt I could be embraced by her. So, I'm also quietly serializing a four-panel manga in OPENERS, and of course, I await your passionate support. Thank you.

BADWhat was bad this year is that I dropped my business card holder. The card holder itself was nice, but since my personal information is now exposed, I'm a bit scared. I saw a documentary on TV about tracking down Yahoo! Auctions scammers, and it turned out the culprit was someone who claimed to have lost their wallet or ID. It might be their excuse, but if my name is used in a Yahoo! Auctions scam, it won't be me. Thank you.

Ryozoh Saito
Media Age Aoyama Dori Clinic, Total Anti-Aging Uehara Clinic Chief Medical Officer & Director General

GOODIn 2006, I advocated for 'Total Anti-Aging' and established a clinic in Yoyogi-Uehara. In 2007, as a result of the Total Anti-Aging concept transcending industry boundaries and gaining support from many people, we were able to move the clinic to Omotesando.
'Today's medicine is incomplete.' The search continues towards true health, a new kind of health... My encounter with the person in the photo may change Japanese medicine. It was December, a month that hinted at a major transformation in 2008. End.

BADI am able to pursue my medical ideals thanks to the help of many people, but I feel bad that I haven't been able to express my gratitude to everyone who has supported me. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Suzuki, Mr. Yamano, Mr. Shigematsu, Mr. Fujiwara, and everyone at Shichiyo. Thank you for everything this year. (← This lack of politeness is the bad part.)
I secretly had my answer to the question 'Who is your idol?' in OPENERS' personal Q&A changed from 'Ryoko Mitake' to 'Ryoko Hirosue after childbirth.' The fact that I've started to care about public perception is doubly bad. ×2

Motohiro Kogi
UNITED ARROWS / Liquor,woman&tears Director

GOODThe number of customers who support Liquor, woman&tears has been increasing. Although I'm busy every day, it's truly encouraging. Thank you. Also, I wasn't interrogated this year (laughs).

BADNothing in particular at the moment, but if I had to pick one, it would be realizing that my karaoke repertoire hasn't changed since high school... Note: 'Honoo' by Kanjiro Kan is my signature song (Editorial Dept.)

Fell in love at first sight with 'VAN' found at Liquor, woman&tears
