Part 16
A Tale of "Clothing" - Marriage Rings (1)

There's no need to be bound by the theory that marriage rings must be platinum. What are Maki Yoshida's criteria for choosing a marriage ring?

Marriage Rings: The Most Familiar Adornment

June brings to mind the term "June Bride." There seem to be various theories as to why this particular month is associated with weddings, but it appears to originate from Europe.

What makes a bride's heart flutter? It's not just the wedding dress. The engagement ring, once said to cost three months' salary, is still a premium item that's hard to ignore, and the marriage ring, which will be worn every day from now on, is an even more special presence.

Considering this, perhaps marriage rings are the most familiar adornment for many people.

However, when one sets out to find a marriage ring, despite the abundance of variations, few have a distinct character, and it's often the case that people end up choosing the so-called "kamaboko" ring through a process of elimination.

Of course, the kamaboko ring, which can be described as "ultimate simplicity," is a versatile piece that matches any fashion, and while it has its merits, it feels a little sad that the options are so limited.

Rethinking the Essence of Marriage Rings

Forgive my personal digression, but M.Y. Label also has a marriage ring collection, developed around three designs.

The main material used is platinum, the standard for marriage rings. Platinum, known for its high purity and resistance to degradation, is a representative precious metal used for marriage rings, symbolizing "eternal love."
We also offer hybrid models that combine this with 18K yellow gold.

We also offer rings made of Oriental Silver® (an original alloy of gold, silver, etc., with a gold content equivalent to 8K), which is less expensive than platinum or gold and therefore more affordable.

Wearing gold can be daunting for Japanese men, but Oriental Silver, with its softer luster than gold, complements skin tones well. Furthermore, it boasts excellent light resistance and non-allergenic properties, and is resistant to degradation, meeting the essential qualities required for marriage rings.

My personal belief is that "the value of precious metals is not their monetary worth." In other words, regardless of price, each metal possesses its own inherent beauty.

Platinum, with its unique pure radiance, is a metal I love, but there's no need to be bound by the rule that marriage rings must be platinum. I believe there should be room for choosing based on intuition – "What do I like?"
