Part 9: Tales of "Clothing" - Early Spring Edition

For chilly days and warm days, for rain or shine, all in one.

Spring. The season when the snow melts and skiing becomes impossible has arrived... While it's not my favorite season, that's beside the point. As the temperature rises, going out becomes more enjoyable. However, at this time of year, it can be warm one moment and suddenly cold the next, or it might be sunny with a light drizzle. It's always a dilemma what to wear. Today, I'd like to introduce a piece that's become indispensable for such times.

The shirt jacket in the photo is from the brand 'TOKITO 360' (designer Tokito Yoshida is my older brother). The material is oiled cotton, so it repels light rain and can also be used as a windbreaker.

There's no lining, and I love how it's incredibly light to throw on. Looking at the details, the collar has a reflector, and the hem has drawcords to prevent flapping – full of functional features typical of biker wear, though I've never consciously used them (laughs).

'TOKITO 360' originally has many all-weather functional garments like this, which are also useful for business trips. How to describe it? Perhaps 'adult clothing that can be worn without feeling stuffy.' Its versatility is truly remarkable. This shirt jacket is from the '07SS collection, but it's so easy to wear, just like something you'd throw on to go out. Lately, when I can't decide what to wear, I find myself reaching for this. It requires no special care and is simply very practical.

As a piece of everyday good design related to clothing, I've chosen the item that is most familiar to me right now. If you're interested, please visit their website at www.tokito.co.jp.
