Words & Artwork byKoichi Kuwabara

I recently visited an exhibition with Matsumoto-kun. As we talked, I realized that in this era, it’s difficult to find interest and build a business in any single field. Collaboration is no longer just about brands; it’s about the beauty of cross-industry partnerships, a kind of hybridization. I’ll write more about this on my blog. #ckpirate

Continuing from Twitter.

Matsumoto-kun is commonly known as Macchan.
He's a Kyushu man. Naturally, his lower half is also Kyushu-man-like, meaning he reacts with particular agility in certain situations. Overall, he’s passionate and straightforward, which isn't a bad description. But his overall evaluation is that he’s a good guy. He’s one of the few friends I trust. He’s also a junior by about a millimeter. Frankly, he’s a dashing Kyushu man. And thankfully, he’s a passionate individual who doesn’t hesitate to invest in my past and future.
Now, to the main topic.

I love the mood evoked by the word “Creole.” And Presley’s song, too. So,
How can we express mixed blood with style from now on?
If we believe that disappearing borders, the exchange of peoples, and new cultures will bring happiness to our future, what should we do during this transitional period?
If possible, I want a philosophy that transcends generational and value-based divides.
And if such a philosophy were to visibly exist, I imagine that any cross-industry partnership would create a beautiful Creole.
And hybridization begets hybridization, a process of endless cross-breeding.
In other words, I aspire to the idea that a value system that transcends roots is what will break down ethnic, generational, and other barriers, creating a beauty never seen before.

In truth, I couldn't have conceived of these thoughts without the existence of the iPhone.

Apple's Steve Jobs passed away today.

He lit a flame of hope, passed that flame to the future, and departed the world.

Long ago, I was taught that the Age of Aquarius was an era of fusion.

Believing those words, I always included them on the cover of our free paper, Dictionary. But that sentiment lost its power with the times, and eventually, the message disappeared from the cover. Or rather, it’s more accurate to say I lost confidence in conveying that light of hope. That media, having lost its light, is now approaching its 24th anniversary. Like a sparkler sputtering out at the end, just as it’s about to finally extinguish… I suddenly realized, while writing this, that this message is finally beginning to hold meaning. The times, the world, needs mixed blood.

And today, the iPhone lit a flame of hope in my heart once more before disappearing.

Apple's Steve Jobs has died.

While I pray for his soul, I too want to live with these words etched in my heart until the day I die.
