KEIKO + MANABU Exhibition "Heart of Shapes" Now On

DIESEL DENIM GALLERY is a store where you can enjoy shopping by displaying denim as art, as if appreciating a work of art. It is one of only two such stores in the world, located in Tokyo and New York.
The exhibition "Heart of Shapes" by KEIKO + MANABU is being held in the second-floor gallery until Sunday, February 8, 2009.

KEIKO + MANABU is a design team founded by Keiko Uchiyama and Manabu Sawase, based in Tokyo and Seattle. With a concept ranging "from earrings to urban planning," they engage in design activities worldwide, encompassing products, graphics, interiors, architecture, and urban planning.

For this exhibition, "Heart of Shapes," numerous large forms resembling children's play shapes—hearts, diamonds, and stars—have been created and are piled high, filling the gallery.

You can step inside or crawl through them, creating a nostalgic secret base unlike anything in everyday life.

The material used is paperboard, a sturdy recycled paper found as inserts in chocolate packaging. Paper collected from daily life is transformed into a sparkling space in the gallery for a limited time, before being recycled back into everyday use.
