Music to Hear as a New Day Dawns After a Night of Frenzy
DJ Toshio Matsuura's music program for adults, "TOKYO MOON," airs every Sunday at 11:30 PM on InterFM 76.1MHz. We introduce "fresh" music from around the world and topics that stimulate intellectual curiosity. Here, we look back at the content just broadcast. This is a series where you can enjoy "TOKYO MOON" with your eyes and ears, delving deeper into artists, introducing related songs, and even allowing you to purchase them. This week, we feature Takumi Kaneko, a member of cro-magnon, who is making his solo debut.

Reputation Built on "Live" Sensibility
A trio formed by Shigeto Otake (Drs/Per), Tsuyoshi Kosuga (G/B), and Takumi Kaneko (Key), who met in Boston, USA. cro-magnon is an artist that can output alternative dance music that transcends genres such as jazz, funk, house, and dub, with a maximum groove despite their minimal trio formation.
Not only their releases but also their "live" sensibility, cultivated through performances, have earned them a reputation, and this accomplished group has steadily gained fans both domestically and internationally. I myself am one of their fans. When I participated in the compilation album "Blue Note Street" in 2007, covering songs from the renowned jazz label Blue Note Records, as Toshio Matsuura Group, I featured these three to capture their groove.
A Melancholic World
Takumi, the keyboardist of this incredibly active group, is releasing his first solo piano album.
Normally, I imagine he thinks about how to excite the audience amidst loud music, but in this work, he faces the keyboard as a solo musician and unfolds a world that is inherently melancholic. The melodies, sometimes gentle and sometimes powerful, seep into the listener's heart.
Personally, I'd like to listen to this album leisurely in the early morning, while making coffee, before the city starts to stir. It's a perfect album to cool down this summer.

A Beach House for Adults
This year, I will participate as a DJ in an event held with the full arrival of summer. "Freedom Sunset," held for 10 years as a live event where people of all ages can enjoy music with the sunset of Shonan, has now become a local specialty. On August 11th, a free entrance lounge beach party produced by Shiba will be held, moving the venue from Enoshima to Zushi Coast. Please enjoy the music sessions unfolding before the vast summer sea, along with Happy Go Lucy's signature "BBQ with no preparation needed." I will also be participating as a DJ.
