Modern Boogie to Color the Autumn Night

On a Sunday night, the precious time spent leisurely with sophisticated music is a moment of bliss for adults. Enhancing such moments further is the radio program "TOKYO MOON" by DJ Toshio Matsuura.──He broadcasts his carefully selected wonderful music from around the world and intellectually stimulating topics for adults every Sunday from 24:00 on Inter FM 76.1MHz. Here, we look back at the program that just aired each week. This week, we start with soulful numbers perfect for an autumn night.

Modern Boogies to Color the Autumn Night

We opened the show with "Peace Of Mind," a soulful track from 1981 by saxophonist Wendell Harrison, who in 1972 co-founded the spiritual jazz label Tribe Records in Detroit alongside trombonist Phil Ranelin, a label that stood alongside Black Jazz and Strata-East.

Next, we featured a self-remix by Hint, scheduled for release in December on the UK label Tru Thoughts, exclusively for the program. Following that, we introduced two tracks from Brennan Green, a DJ/producer and pioneer of Nu Disco who greatly influenced DFA and Metro Area, operating out of NY and releasing on the UK techno-house label Crosstown Rebels. These included a remix and a boogie number.

In the latter half, we played disco-rock from H.O.S.H., the flagship artist of Hamburg's popular dance label Diynamic Music, also known as Holger Beine. The program concluded with "Look See Dream Me," a fantastical track perfect for an autumn night, from the latest album "Candela" by Mice Parade, led by Adam Pierce, formerly of The Dylan Group, a NY post-rock band.
