Opening with a mellow Afrobeat gem from Kingdom★Afrocks’ latest release
This time, we chose the latest release “P.E.O.P.L.E” by Kingdom★Afrocks, an Afrobeat mixture band highly acclaimed internationally, to open the show. It brought a pleasant rhythm to the Tokyo midnight.
Neneh Cherry, who gained attention in the 80s as the vocalist for New Wave groups like New Age Steppers and Rip Rig + Panic, later went solo. We introduce “Dream Baby Dream” from her comeback cover album, where she teamed up with the Norwegian free jazz trio “The Thing.” It’s a 1979 masterpiece by the art-rock band Suicide, infused with jazz essence.
