Tropical Sounds to Usher in the Anticipated Summer
Sunday nights, a personal time spent leisurely with sophisticated music, are a moment of bliss for adults. Enhancing such moments further is the radio program "TOKYO MOON" by DJToshio Matsuura—. Each week, he presents wonderful music selected from around the globe and topics that stimulate intellectual curiosity for adults, airing every Sunday from midnight on Inter FM 76.1MHz. Here, we look back at the programs that have just aired. This week, we bring you tropical sounds to usher in the anticipated summer.

Beat the Summer Heat with Modern & Classic World Music!
As the rainy season shows no sign of ending, we're eagerly awaiting the clear skies. In the program, we've already welcomed summer 2012 with modern and classic world music. We kicked off with "Big Band Waltz" by Salah Ragab, an Egyptian jazz drummer and percussionist, released by the British label Jazzman Records, known for its passion in unearthing rare recordings.
Next, we featured a danceable modern cumbia from "Ondatrópica," a new project by Will Holland, also known as Quantic, launched in Colombia. We also introduced exotic tracks like Gabriele Poso's bold Latin arrangement of the 1960s Jamaican rocksteady classic "You Don't Love Me."
Additionally, we exclusively previewed the Latin jazz-step track, scheduled for release this autumn, produced by Mala (a Jamaican-British artist known as a member of the dubstep production duo Digital Mystikz) in Cuba with Gilles Peterson. The latter half of the program was colored by new releases infused with an 80s disco and fusion feel, current trends in dance music, marking the first broadcast in our new time slot.

Jazzanova, Representatives of Germany's Club Jazz Scene, Visit Japan!
The Berlin-based production team Jazzanova, who just released their album "Funkhaus Studio Sessions" with a live band in May, will appear at the event "Good Music Parlar" held at Blue Note Tokyo on July 16th and 17th. Known worldwide for their exquisite blend of sampling and electronic production, they will perform their many well-known club hits live. The stage, featuring Detroit singer/bassist Paul Randolph as vocalist, promises to be exciting and is a must-see. Furthermore, "TOKYO MOON" plans to conduct an exclusive interview with them during their visit to Japan. Please look forward to that as well.
