Diary-T 263 Lily: The Flower of Revolution

Words & Artwork byKoichi Kuwabara

Ever since I learned that the lily, or "yuri," is the flower of revolution,

What is your favorite flower?

Lilies.

If I had answered that way, the earnest [name redacted] had been conditioned to believe lilies were flowers of appreciation, and that evening, they placed a large lily on my desk.
Thanks to that, the scent of lilies filled my room, allowing me to finally acknowledge and deeply savor the compassion I had long suppressed.

I greeted the morning with a warmth from the voicemail of the kindhearted [name redacted], who always calls me on this day.

Thanks to that gentle gesture,
even the slow-witted who suddenly realized,
and the intuitive [name redacted] who entrusts their feelings to my favorite [redacted] with a hunch,
and the pedantic [name redacted] who insists that expressing feelings is unnatural, their duet of soothing, relaxing "Yasuragi Ondo" (Song of Serenity) could only have come to life because I am still here today...

Once a year, there are those who give me such a warmth, like a patch of sunlight.
I want to express my heartfelt gratitude.
Every day is a special day.

Every day is a special day.
