Let's Funk!

This week opened with a track featuring an impressive jazz horn section from "Chameleon" producer Madlib, who is currently working on an album, and young MC Freddie Gibbs. Many of you were likely drawn into DJ Gaslamp Killer's smoky and funky abstract soundscape from there. This track is included on a compilation for the Los Angeles club event 'Low End Theory,' scheduled to be held in Tokyo this March.

We played black music with a generally funky feel, including works from young beat generation artists from Japan and the UK like Kan Sano and Slugabed, and a pre-release single from Berlin's Jazzanova, who are planning to release a band-format studio album in May.
