Emotional Melodies and Exhilarating Tracks to Welcome Spring

This time, from the soundtrack of Wim Wenders' documentary "Pina / Pina Bausch: Dancing Dreams," which was featured as a topic, we selected a new work by Paris-based musician Jun Miyake. It's a dynamic piece that could be called new wave Afro-jazz. Incidentally, three of his songs were used in the film.

Next, we feature a cinematic track from Micatone, a unit belonging to the label run by Berlin's Jazzanova. I chose this piece inspired by the film.

And then, a noteworthy cover of that famous song, once sung by Michael Jackson, by Esperanza, a talented artist who masterfully blends jazz and pop. Also, "The Birds & The Bees" by The 2 Bears is a delightful slice of UK-born slow house, perfect for a run in a spring park. This week, we broadcasted a wide range of genres.

Shock That Stirs the Senses, Emotion That Fills the Heart

Pina Bausch, the legendary German dancer and choreographer, passed away suddenly in 2009. Her unique dance, incorporating theatrical elements, captivated fans worldwide. "Pina / Pina Bausch: Dancing Dreams" is a documentary film created by Wim Wenders, a long-time friend of hers. It celebrates her achievements by compiling her works and testimonies from dancers she influenced. The sheer power of the visuals draws you in, even if you're unfamiliar with Pina. Please experience it in theaters.

"Pina / Pina Bausch: Dancing Dreams"
Opening February 25 (Saturday) in 3D at Human Trust Cinema Yurakucho, Shinjuku Wald 9, and other theaters nationwide.
Wim Wenders was convinced that 3D, with its ability to expand spatial perception, could recreate the world of Pina and the Tanztheater Wuppertal. Alongside new filming of Pina's dance pieces "Café Müller," "The Rite of Spring," "Full Moon," and "Contact Hof," Wenders embarked on an innovative endeavor. They moved beyond the theater, pursuing dancers performing solo pieces in modern architecture like monorails and factories, as well as in natural settings such as forests and gardens, completing a groundbreaking dance documentary.
