Experience Ambitious Edo Kiriko Works in a Space Filled with the Warmth of Handcraftsmanship

'ROKU,' which celebrated its first anniversary in February, is a select shop for traditional crafts that introduces works with great potential to lead the future of Japanese culture, from Living National Treasures to emerging artists.

This exhibition showcases the work of Akio Kurokawa, who inherits the craftsmanship of Edo while creating dynamic Edo Kiriko that breaks conventional boundaries, characterized by the interplay of curved and straight lines.

Among the works exhibited this time are pieces for which glass artists, trained in Europe, have specially created the materials due to Mr. Kurokawa's unique cutting techniques. Visitors can enjoy original works not found elsewhere.

Also on display are numerous pieces suitable for Valentine's gifts, including new goblets and colorful bowls. We invite you to experience the dazzling world of cut glass, crafted with the techniques honed over 55 years.

Akio Kurokawa
Born in Tokyo in 1941. At the age of 15, he became a disciple of the renowned Edo Kiriko master Kikichiro Kobayashi and learned the craft. At 30, his work was selected for the 18th Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition, and he has since received numerous awards. In 1993, he established 'Kurokawa Glass Crafts' and became independent.
He is currently a full member of the Japan Crafts Association and works as a Tokyo Metropolitan Traditional Craftsman.
