PROGRESSIVE FOrM

The Nothings of The North

Silicom / AOKI takamasa
Curiosity piqued, I visited the PROGRESSIVE FOrM website
and realized I had actually been listening to them for some time.
While the categorization of electronic music is often beyond me,
my reason for enjoying such sounds lies in their imaginative power.
As I listen, the sounds and visuals meld, allowing me to enjoy them as if I were directing my own film.
For over two decades now, I’ve been devoted to this kind of electronic music, which rarely features vocals.
Recently, a Pleq release gifted to me by a new acquaintance, Nik, made me rediscover this label.
I’ve also been listening repeatedly to bajune tobeta + evala, which they recently sent me.
The motivation behind founding the Japan Music Curation Association years ago
was to make society recognize that selecting and arranging music is a creative act, just like composing it.
Over thirty years have passed since then; what is the reality now?
I find myself thinking that perhaps this captivating label
could not have existed without such a process.
Occasionally, I entertain such notions while enjoying my private visual collection.
