Unmissable Film Topics for Adults


Sunday nights, a leisurely flow of time with sophisticated music is a moment of bliss for adults. Delivering such rich moments is DJToshio Matsuura's radio program, TOKYO MOON.—He broadcasts a selection of wonderful music from around the world and intellectually stimulating topics for adults every Sunday from 7 PM on InterFM 76.1MHz. Here, we present the program as it airs each week. This week, we focused on film topics.

The Closing of Mini-Theaters and the Enduring Charm of Revival Cinemas





This time, we discussed the closure of Ebisu Garden Cinema, which had been screening quality independent films and documentaries, including works by Woody Allen, in the sophisticated town of Ebisu since 1994, a part of the mini-theater boom that began in the 1980s. We also introduced the notable Argentine film 'The Secret in Their Eyes' and 'Cafe De Los Maestros,' currently showing at Waseda Shochiku, a cinema in the student district of Waseda that has long screened new and classic films in double features.
