A New Dior That Took Flight into the Future

This is the 2015-16 Fall/Winter Paris Ready-to-Wear Collection. Dior's Artistic Director, Raf Simons, has taken flight into the future. Raf, who has continued to depict homages to Monsieur Dior, has now taken a step into his own creations.

Unveiled in a bright space bathed in sunlight were sharp, futuristic garments: vivid black-and-white bicolor suits worn with leggings-like, thigh-high boots, and short dresses with a dropped waistline. Asymmetrical mini dresses, appearing to have cuts at the chest or shoulders, were paired with ankle boots.

Giraffes and zebras are rendered in pastel colors, creating gentle dresses. Animal prints are an icon of Monsieur Dior. Dresses inspired by the animal print scarves that Mizza Bricard, Monsieur's muse, wore to hide a wrist injury were also presented.

This autumn, elegant animal prints are set to be a talking point. The final look, a dress in white, brown, and red, was a luxurious couture piece with overlapping bias-cut hemlines.

Chanel: Rooted in the Reality of Parisian Life, Set in a Parisian Café

Chanel designs with a modern, realistic sensibility, bridging couture and ready-to-wear. This season's stage was a Parisian café. The performance, showcasing exquisite Chanel pieces within the everyday moments of Parisian women, captivated the audience once again. Against this backdrop, Chanel's enduring appeal was highlighted through luxurious, pattern-on-pattern coordination.

The Spring/Summer Haute Couture show in January was a collection set amidst flowers, with artful blooms and an explosion of color. Midriff-baring tops paired with fringed skirts or lace flare skirts felt light and airy. Knit caps and flat shoes added a touch of modernity.
