For the Spring/Summer season, JOURNAL STANDARD's womenswear line centers on the theme of "SWEET RELATIONS." This signifies a sweet connection, as if two distinct styles, such as "BOHO GIRL × CITY BOY," are sharing each other's wardrobes. To embody this charm, we asked Ai Asano, a fashion advisor at JOURNAL STANDARD Omotesando, to showcase her recommended coordinates.
First, a monochrome look centered around a long coat. Asano comments, "This long coat is very popular in stores. It's unlined and lightweight, making it easy to wear, and its charm lies in its versatility – it looks lovely paired with shorts, almost like a shirt."
The sheer blouse worn underneath is a buyer's top pick. While the dot print could lean sweet, the look is transformed into a signature JOURNAL STANDARD mix-style by pairing it with menswear-inspired distressed denim and sandals. A native-inspired belt also adds an accent, tightening the overall ensemble.
Next, a coordinate featuring a shirt with a print of a turban-wearing man's face evokes the "BOHO × MILITARY" theme proposed by JOURNAL STANDARD this season. The key is the playful contrast created by pairing feminine items like a brightly colored blouse, pumps, and bag with wide cargo pants.
"I recommend styling JOURNAL STANDARD's original cargo pants with cropped tops or tucking in shirts with a fluid drape," Asano advises. The Revival of a Masterpiece Shoe, Now in All White
Reebok CLASSIC
Released in 1990, Reebok's "Ventilator" revolutionized the trajectory of running shoes. Its defining feature was the mesh panel in the mid-upper, providing, as its name suggests, exceptional breathability. It also incorporated "Hexalite," a hexagonal cushioning technology that enhanced shock absorption while reducing weight, gently protecting the runner's feet upon impact. However, its most striking aspect was the use of unprecedented neon colors and sharkskin patterns, seemingly a testament to its advanced functionality. This epoch-making running shoe, the "Ventilator," is fully revived this year. Furthermore, JOURNAL STANDARD is releasing an innovative special order model featuring an all-white upper and a tri-color outsole, symbolic of Reebok.
This exquisite piece, rendered in all white—a departure from the neon colors that once defined the model—achieves a cool aesthetic. Amidst the current trend for white-based outfits, these all-white "Ventilators" are sure to be a valuable addition. Additionally, starting April 10th (Friday), a pop-up shop will be held at JOURNAL STANDARD Omotesando and Shinsaibashi stores, featuring Reebok CLASSIC-themed displays and offering the special order item alongside a full lineup of current "Ventilator" models.
