Ultimate Minimalism Revealed Through Technique

Designer Norio Surikabe aims for more than just fashion with high design. He creates clothes whose quality can be felt upon wearing, clothes that enhance the wearer's expression and movements. To achieve this, most of the "SUPPORT SURFACE" collection is crafted using three-dimensional cutting.

Based on designs that comfortably fit the body and allow for unrestricted movement, concepts are built for each season. Rather than "adding" ornamentation, a sense of volume is expressed through techniques that leverage the fabric's properties.

The theme for the 2010-11 Autumn/Winter season, "Naked," showcases the beautiful, diverse expressions of fabric born from technique, such as cocoon skirts with their hem tucks layered left and right and folded inward, and dolman-sleeve cardigans in jersey with gathers at the neckline.

Equilibrium on the verge of collapse

Forms born from abandoning stability

White space on the brink of being filled

A precarious balance

The collection unfolds with an ascetic, minimalist silhouette symbolized by smock dresses, primarily in a chic color palette. Pop items like a checked trench coat and vibrant knit dresses added a touch of flair.
