Tokyo is finally becoming TOKYO. "YOHJI YAMAMOTO," "ISSEY MIYAKE," "COMME des GARÇONS," "TSUMORI CHISATO"—numerous Japanese creators have taken flight to the world stage. The doors they opened with their key insights are now flung wide by the young creators following in their footsteps. We spotlight three highly anticipated brands—"TOGA," "sacai," and "kolor"—that have emerged from Tokyo to thrive globally. What is the new face of "TOKYO," honed by the discerning eyes of the world?

An Unmistakable Presence: TOGA, the Maverick of Tokyo's Fashion Scene
TOGA
FURUTA Yasuko
After launching the brand in 1997, she made a striking debut at the Tokyo Collection for Autumn/Winter 2001-2002, sending a significant shockwave through the Japanese fashion industry. The brand then made its Paris debut with the Spring/Summer 2006 collection themed "SPIRAL FANTASIA." Currently, TOGA has approximately 40 directly managed stores in Japan and about 30 wholesale accounts overseas.
Under the brand concept of a feminine and complex female image that blends all senses—past, future, avant-garde—this season's collection, presented under the theme "Trance Romantics," expresses androgyny by adorning masculine items with contrasting details like original lace, tulle, and ribbons.
