Trees from "Louis Vuitton's Forest" Participate in Installation

LOUIS VUITTON has deep ties to forests, with founder Louis Vuitton hailing from the Jura Mountains in France and the brand utilizing poplar wood for its trunks. In 2009, "Louis Vuitton's Forest" was established in Komoro City, Nagano Prefecture, with the cooperation of more trees, an organization headed by Ryuichi Sakamoto. Since then, LOUIS VUITTON JAPAN has supported forest regeneration and conservation activities through various initiatives.

In this, the sixth year of the project with more trees, LOUIS VUITTON is providing support centered on "Ryuichi Sakamoto + YCAM InterLab Forest Symphony in Moerenuma," at the "Sapporo International Art Festival 2014," where Ryuichi Sakamoto serves as Guest Director. This installation, which converts data from the bioelectrical potential of trees—fitted with sensors in Sapporo, across Japan, and internationally—into music, features a healthy tree from "Louis Vuitton's Forest" as one of its performers.
