Theme: "Neo-Neoclassicism" Where Past Meets Future
Titled "NEO-NEOCLASSIC," this campaign was lensed by photographer Nick Knight under the direction of Artistic Director Nicola Formichetti. For its creation, historical group portraits, from the era of Michelangelo to Avedon in the 20th century, were revisited and composited into a single image using digital media. The visuals incorporate a "glitch" effect, intentionally corrupting data.
Symbolizing the beginning of a new era, the campaign features rising star models like Kiko Mizuhara. The fusion of classic and digital, real and pop, culminates in campaign visuals that embody Diesel's new global community.
Nicola Formichetti, who dubbed this campaign "Pop Picasso Style," commented, "With the brand's reboot now complete, this is the new foundation for Diesel. A new beginning always involves looking back to move forward. This campaign can be described as 'Neo-Neoclassicism.'" Photographer Nick Knight added, "Juxtaposing the classic and the digital emphasizes both."
