Building a Modern Future While Cherishing the Maison's History
Nicolas Ghesquière was born in France in 1971. After gaining experience at houses like Jean Paul Gaultier, he was appointed Creative Designer at Balenciaga at the young age of 26, where he led the brand for approximately 15 years.
Regarding this appointment, Louis Vuitton commented: "We are delighted to welcome Nicolas Ghesquière, a designer of immense talent, as our new Artistic Director. He will bring a more modern and creative vision to the womenswear collections, building upon the values that the Maison has cherished since its founding in 1854: refinement, savoir-faire, and ultimate quality."
Nicolas Ghesquière stated: "For me, Louis Vuitton is the ultimate symbol of luxury, representing innovation and the exploration of the unknown. I am deeply honored to take on this mission and proud to be part of the history of this great Maison. We share common values and a vision. Together, we will protect the precious heritage that the brand inherits from the past while building the future."
The first Louis Vuitton womenswear collection designed by Nicolas Ghesquière is scheduled to be presented in Paris in March 2014.
