VALENTINO: Layered Nuance Colors That Enchant
This is the Fall/Winter 2017-18 Paris Haute Couture collection. This season, Proenza Schouler and Rodarte moved from New York, and A.F. Vandevorst from Prêt-à-Porter, with five new brands joining as invited designers. The number of participating designers in presentations also increased, and the four-day schedule kicked off with a packed agenda, rivaling prêt-à-porter, from the very first day.

On the final day of the collections, VALENTINO presented a breathtakingly beautiful collection.
The first look featured a high-neck chiffon blouse paired with a double-face cape top and fuchsia pink trousers. The combination of nuanced colors, the innovative cutting, and the balanced coordination were simply enchanting.
This season's collection is inspired by the Spanish religious painter Zurbarán, who was active during the Baroque period, but it has been rendered with a much simpler, modern finish.
Hooded capes with a rough, rustic image, reminiscent of those seen in the film "The Name of the Rose," also made an appearance. The lining of the coarsely woven linen coats reveals a beautiful double-face.
This is a personal luxury, imbued with a sense of comfort. The inlay technique is applied not only to lace and leather but also to the joining of astrakhan and feathers. Velvet dresses, a key material for this autumn, are designed to be worn layered under coats. The trench coats are styled with blouses, vests, and trousers, creating a meticulously calculated yet seemingly effortless layered balance.
Despite being wearable pieces, every look felt fresh and new. White tights, ankle boots, and red earrings provided striking accents. Animal bags, a collaboration with Springhoso de la Lora, added a bold touch. Designer Pierpaolo Piccioli's creations are increasingly expanding the collection's scope, with more coordinated looks beyond dresses.
