Milan Womenswear Spring/Summer 2017

The Milan collections presented realistic looks, with each brand crafting a new image for women. The emphasis on shoulder volume and sleeves, carried over from the previous season, contributed to an overall long silhouette that was prominent throughout.

An Explosion of Color, Pattern, and Light――Alessandro Michele's Gucci

The Spring/Summer 2017 Milan collections. Gucci Creative Director Alessandro Michele's provocations show no signs of stopping. Throughout the show venue, Gucci girls and women were seen in the new Fall/Winter pieces.

Gucci's show space, a long warehouse adorned with pink sofas and mobile curtains, exuded a seductive atmosphere. Glittering materials, sequins, studs, and embroidery were combined in a riot of color and pattern. Motifs featuring tigers, snakes, and even Donald Duck mixed a sense of danger with humor. A total of 75 looks were presented, including suits and long dresses for both men and women. The looks were completed with Swarovski sunglasses and wedge heels. The dresses were easy to wear, requiring no special coordination. Perfect for those who want to embrace bold prints.

Wrapping Simple Items in Velcro――PRADA

Prada's collection featured simple skirts and trench coats with various tabs. The style was about wrapping the body with Velcro tabs, as if to protect women from the complexities of modern society. Simple shirts were paired with mid-length vests, and wrap skirts were accented with feathers and summer mink shawls. The pajama suits with feathered chinoiserie embroidery were particularly elegant. These are pieces worth trying.

Bottega Veneta's Elegance at the Brera Academy

Bottega Veneta celebrated its 50th anniversary and Thomas Maier's 15th year as Creative Director with a joint womenswear and menswear show held in the cloisters of the classic Brera Academy. Jackets and coats crafted from precious leathers such as crocodile and ostrich were showcased. A-line dresses that flared from the waist exuded elegance. The series of looks in nude, beige, and light mist gray were beautifully refined. The beige linen dress with black embroidered trim is a favorite for summer. Paired with flat sandals, worn barefoot. The finale featured the appearance of all the artisans from the atelier.
