LOUIS VUITTON

A Collection Collaborating with Yayoi Kusama is Born

Like a Museum? An Artistic Limited-Time Store Opens

A collection from Yayoi Kusama, the avant-garde artist with global acclaim for her polka-dot motifs, and Louis Vuitton has arrived! To celebrate this collaboration, artistic limited-time stores where you can experience Kusama's world have opened at Dover Street Market Ginza Comme des Garçons in Ginza and Isetan Shinjuku Main Building.

Kusama's World, Drenched in Polka Dots

Since its founding in 1854, Louis Vuitton has maintained a close relationship with the art world. Cherishing this tradition, under the direction of Artistic Director Marc Jacobs, the brand has built an even closer relationship with art in recent years, collaborating with artists such as Yayoi Kusama, Takashi Murakami, and Stephen Sprouse.

Yayoi Kusama, active not only in Japan but on a global stage, has been on a world tour of her retrospective exhibitions since last year. Supported by Louis Vuitton, these exhibitions have traveled to Paris, London, and Madrid, and will be held in New York starting this July. Furthermore, a collaboration with Marc Jacobs, a devoted fan who praises her work, saying, "Kusama's dedication and purity deeply resonate with me. She allows viewers to share her worldview," has also been realized.

The collection, centered around the keywords "obsession" and "continuity," features her signature organic dot patterns on everything from leather goods and ready-to-wear to shoes, accessories, and fine jewelry. The polka dots, in their vibrant and hybrid color palettes that seem to continue endlessly, express infinite possibilities through varying sizes, colors, and densities. This "Kusama-esque" style breathes new life into Louis Vuitton's items.

To convey this special worldview, limited-time shops have opened at Dover Street Market Ginza Comme des Garçons and Isetan Shinjuku Main Building, exclusively stocking collaboration items. Inside and in the windows, sculptures mimicking nerves titled 'Nerves,' 'Eternal Blooming Flowers in Mind' inspired by flowers, and 'Self-Obliteration' with polka dots on a white background are on display. Her message, "Life is one of millions of polka dots," and "Love is eternal," like the never-ending polka dots, envelops the interior and exterior of the stores. At the Isetan Shinjuku store, all 15 windows on the first floor have been transformed, creating a breathtaking spectacle.
