A Pop-Up Boutique Appears in Omotesando!
Unveiled last year and met with great acclaim, Chanel's Spring/Summer 2012 Ready-to-Wear collection, themed around the "sea," is brought to life at the "Tokyo Pop-Up Boutique," open until Sunday, April 15th, in Omotesando. Explore the mysterious and enchanting underwater realm envisioned by Karl Lagerfeld.

A Secret, Hideaway-Like Temporary Boutique
Tucked away down a narrow Omotesando alley, Chanel's temporary Tokyo pop-up boutique emerges within a secret, hideaway-like atmosphere. The two-floor, approximately 300-square-meter space is complemented by a striking 7-meter-tall installation beside the building, crafted from mannequins and glass tubes, evoking the deep sea floor and inviting visitors into an aquatic world.
On the main floor, curved structures display looks from the collection that garnered immense applause for their delicate yet bold dresses, inspired by the sea. Surrounding this, iridescent walls create the illusion of stepping inside a giant pearl oyster. Elsewhere, Chanel's signature aesthetic is evident in the contrast between handbags displayed against carved wooden walls and tables adorned with a mosaic of silver pebbles.
Ascending to the second floor, mannequins adorned with the latest looks, imbued with a sense of narrative, greet visitors. Fitting rooms with walls resembling white seaweed drifting in the ocean and comfortable sofas with curves reminiscent of marine life further unfold Chanel's poetic underwater vision.
The boutique also features a café with a Parisian ambiance. While evoking a mesmerizing underwater kingdom, walls covered in silver aluminum film cleverly capture light, and plexiglass mannequins suspended from the ceiling sway as if gently caressed by a sea breeze. It's a special space that creates the illusion of melting into the world of the show.
An Homage to the Little Black Jacket, Presented Through Over 100 Photographs
Additionally, until Sunday, April 15th, an exhibition celebrating the release of "The Little Black Jacket: CHANEL's classic revisited by Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld" is being held. This photography book, created by Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld, pays tribute to the Little Black Jacket, an icon of the 20th century.
