YSL's New "Lip Lacquer": Five Years in the Making

Rouge Pur Couture Vernis offers the pure, vibrant color of lipstick combined with the luscious shine of lip gloss, delivering a lightweight, long-lasting finish akin to nail lacquer.

To achieve a lipstick that excels in color, shine, longevity, and comfort, Yves Saint Laurent focused on "ethyl cellulose." This ingredient, used as a coating agent in products like pellet candies coated in sugar and then colored, allows for the color and shine to be sealed in immediately. Based on ethyl cellulose, YSL developed its proprietary "Honeycomb Network" technology, finally succeeding in creating this novel lip product.

The "Honeycomb Network" bridges the seemingly contradictory elements of a nail lacquer-like shine and color payoff with the long-lasting wear of vibrant hues. This innovation results in lips that maintain a fresh, radiant gleam.

"With 18 shades ranging from delicate pinks and plums perfect for daytime to bright reds, berries, and burgundies that make an impact on dramatic occasions, there's a color to match every scene," notes Lloyd Simmonds, Yves Saint Laurent Makeup Creative Director, highlighting the appealing color selection.
