An Extreme Ending for Unrelenting Obsession with Fashion
In Miu Miu's short film project, the "love affair" has been expressed through "The Powder Room," a fantasy by director Zoe Cassavetes that depicted a captivating and opulent world in the first installment, and "MUTA," a film noir by director Lucrecia Martel that portrayed fashionable mutants in the second.
Following the previous two works, "THE WOMAN DRESS" also focuses on a woman's world brimming with allure and desire. However, the protagonist, played by Italian actress Maya Sansa, faces an extreme conclusion to her unrelenting obsession with fashion.
The protagonist visits a cave and is led to a dimly lit bathhouse inhabited by witches. Pricking her finger, she bleeds. As the witches form a circle around her, chanting strange incantations, she transforms into her deepest desire: a dress the color of blood. The story unfolds like a glimpse into a ritual that transcends reality.
The film features Miu Miu's signature dresses, as well as surrealist techniques such as red velvet curtains, reversed audio, and dreamlike direction, making it a captivating watch.
The premiere screening in New York was attended by a glamorous lineup including director Gia Coppola, lead actress Maya Sansa, Oh My Girl Simone, who composed the film's score, and actress-singer Leighton Meester, all of whom enjoyed the film's world.
The short film is currently available on Miu Miu's official website. Additionally, Miu Miu has launched the "Miu Miu Cult Sunglasses," characterized by their distinctive frames that play a crucial role in the film, scheduled for release on miumiu.com in late May.
Unlike the previous two works by director Gia Coppola, this film depicts a woman whose desire for fashion has reached an abnormal extreme. Experience the mesmerizing visual beauty that is both eerie and utterly captivating.
