Styles Featuring Translucent Materials
Maruyama's key styling tip for Spring/Summer 2012 is to incorporate sheer or translucent items somewhere in your outfit.
"When wearing sherbet-colored shorts or tops made of sheer fabric, it's important to add sharp accents with accessories so the overall look doesn't become too soft," she advises. "This creates a balanced style."
For example, a MICHAEL VAN DER HAM top, which mixes fabrics of various textures, is paired with culottes in a sherbet color. Punchy head accessories and pumps are added to complete the look, tying it all together.
"Adding vintage-style accessories, like those adorned with pearls or natural stones, would also be lovely," she adds.
Another recommended item is "lace. This season, incorporating lace into bottoms like shorts, or into coats, will create a very on-trend style."
This romantic yet accented style is definitely one to emulate.
