DIESEL BLACK GOLD

Embracing Mixed Cultures with Freedom

The enduring relationship between youth culture and fashion is constantly revisited. This season, DIESEL BLACK GOLD confronts this very notion, elevating it into a contemporary and wearable wardrobe. The fusion of contrasting materials and volumes, through mix-and-match styling and layering, resonates with the pulse of Tokyo today.

How to Master Hybrid Mixed Cultures

This season, DIESEL BLACK GOLD draws inspiration from British youth cultures like Mods, Punk, and New Wave, infusing them with modern sensibilities through materials, silhouettes, and layering. Creative Director Andreas Melbostad, who oversees both men's and women's collections presented in Milan and New York, delivers a collection that strongly evokes fashion as an attitude.

The brand's signature denim is treated with diverse finishes and mixed with traditional British materials like tweed, as well as shearling and leather. Silhouette balance is key, with tight-fitting bottoms paired with rounded, oversized tops, conveying a message that fashion should be more free and daring.

DIESEL BLACK GOLD's collection is perfectly suited for a city like Tokyo, where various trends coexist. Why not try embodying a modern mix of contrasting elements – aggressive yet traditional?

Secrets to Styling Men's and Women's Looks

This season, Akira Maruyama styled both the men's and women's collections. We asked him about the concepts behind each look.

"For men, we had a clear theme of British style, so the styling is fundamentally based on that. Especially for looks with strong tailoring elements, I focused on a traditional direction without too much deconstruction. I believe the brand's inherent hardness and edge have been softened to make them more wearable in Tokyo today."

"For women, many items were in black, and the runway featured striking, pompadour-style hair with a rock feel. This time, I focused on incorporating femininity to match the Tokyo atmosphere. While minimizing skin exposure, I aimed to balance strength with innocence. I also wanted to propose a new sense of balance created by layering positioned below the waist."

As stylist Maruyama explains, Tokyo is a city where diverse cultures currently converge. To stand out amidst this, the edgy elements characteristic of DIESEL BLACK GOLD are indispensable. We hope you enjoy this season's looks, which achieve a modern finish not through drastic style changes, but through subtle detail arrangements.
