A Celebration of Hollywood's Most Radiant Women
This year's prestigious Women In Film Los Angeles Crystal + Lucy Awards® ceremony was held on June 16th at the International Ballroom of the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The gala, which also served as a charity event for numerous educational and philanthropic programs, was attended by many guests.
MaxMara, a long-time sponsor of Women In Film, celebrates its 60th anniversary this year since its founding in 1951. At this momentous occasion, the esteemed MaxMara "Face of the Future®" Award was presented to Katie Holmes, who has appeared in a wide range of films, from Hollywood blockbusters like "Batman Begins" and "Thank You for Smoking" to socially conscious independent films. Last year, she expanded her horizons further by starring in and producing the mini-series "The Romantics."
This award is presented to women at a turning point in their careers, recognizing their remarkable achievements, unique style, and expressive power underpinned by grace, through their work in film and television, as well as their contributions to society. It is a selection befitting MaxMara, a brand that pursues a style symbolizing Italian classicism and elegant femininity.
Past recipients include a dazzling lineup such as Zoë Saldana, Elizabeth Banks, Ginnifer Goodwin, Maria Bello, and Emily Blunt.
Powerful Women of Entertainment Gather
Additionally, the "Crystal Award for Excellence in Film," honoring contributions to the role of women in the entertainment industry, was presented to Annette Bening, who received numerous film award nominations and wins last year for "The Kids Are All Right."
The "Lucy Award for Excellence in Television," recognizing creative work with insight into women through the medium of television, was awarded to Nina Tassler, President of CBS Entertainment.
The "Dorothy Arzner Directors Award®," for female directors who have played a significant role in film and television, was presented to Pamela Fryman, director and executive producer of the CBS comedy series "How I Met Your Mother."
And the "Women In Film Norma Zarky Humanitarian Award®" was presented to the late Elizabeth Taylor, a leader in AIDS activism who significantly influenced American film history and contributed to the fight against AIDS. Naomi Wilding accepted the award on behalf of her late grandmother.
It was a glamorous awards ceremony that reaffirmed how beautiful and talented women are forging ahead and leading a new era. We look forward to their continued success.
