Designer Giorgio Armani holds a strong interest in environmental issues. He has publicly stated that assuming social responsibility is a core value for the brand, and has long been actively engaged in addressing environmental and social concerns.
Among these initiatives, Emporio Armani's "Sustainable Collection" approaches environmental issues with a fashion-forward sensibility. First introduced in the Autumn/Winter 2020 season, the Spring/Summer 2021 collection marks its second iteration, expanding the lineup further and launching globally on April 7, 2021.
When the collection was first launched last season, it featured a lineup centered around impactful designs with the straightforward message "I'M SAYING YES TO RECYCLING." This season, the message is "SAVE THE EARTH," incorporating details inspired by marine and nautical themes. The collection includes 33 items for men and 22 for women.
The materials used in this collection are selected according to the most credible international standards in sustainability. Fabrics utilize eco-friendly textiles like GREENLON®, produced through processes that reuse materials to reduce waste, energy consumption, and carbon emissions, and NewLife™, which upcycles plastic into premium yarn. These materials, along with nylon derived from plastic bottles and recycled polyester, are produced in Italy.
The highly twisted, abrasion-resistant nylon is regenerated from plastic waste such as carpets and fishing nets. Organic cotton, on the other hand, is cultivated without GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms) or chemical fertilizers, making it a material with a low environmental impact.
The men's line features many items that catch the summer sun, such as crisp white shirts and overalls with wave-like patterns, totaling 33 pieces.
The women's collection also offers a rich selection of 22 items, including coats, T-shirts, shorts, sweatshirts, and accessories like hats. This limited collection is available at the Emporio Armani Omotesando and Emporio Armani Shinsaibashi PARCO stores, as well as on the official website.
