The supplement for the fashion magazine "PLEASE 16" is incredible! An art book featuring "CHANEL 2021/22 AW Collection" drawn by Takanori Ichikawa!

The September 9th issue of PLEASE 16 comes with a special art book! Experience the world of CHANEL 2021/22 AW, as depicted by artist Takanori Ichikawa. Inspired by the show's movie and the collection's items, Ichikawa presents his signature "Senko-ga®️" (incense painting) and his new technique, "Scrape Works," in this special art book.
What's particularly noteworthy is the unique page layout. Unlike regular pages, by removing the center staples, all pages can be displayed as pin-ups without cutting. Ichikawa remarks, "The way the pages connect, even when the booklet is divided, is also cool," suggesting that there are various ways to appreciate it.

Ichikawa is well-known in fashion circles and among enthusiasts, partly due to his collaboration with TAKAHIROMIYASHITATheSoloist. for their Autumn/Winter 2020 collection in January 2020. This project is a luxurious fusion of fashion and art, and since Ichikawa's works are rarely seen in print, this becomes a precious volume. It's also a rare opportunity to view CHANEL's looks through art rather than photography. We hope you seize this chance for a new, artistic fashion experience.
Ichikawa has this to say:
"Using the techniques of Senko-ga®️ and Scrape Works, I am attempting to reconstruct and re-emerge the imagery from the French apparel brand CHANEL's show movie on paper, treating it as my own fabricated memory, and viewing the costumes and items as remnants or husks of others' memories, tracing the traces of those who might have been there."
Within this, you should be able to experience the "memory and time" that are Ichikawa's creative themes, along with the fluctuations thereof, and a completely unique interpretation of the CHANEL 2021/22 AW collection as felt by Ichikawa.
This has become a precious volume, with CHANEL's looks rendered as works of art.

Takanori Ichikawa (Artist)
At the age of 13, he traveled alone to New York with money saved from working as a scaffold builder, with no particular destination in mind.
While traveling through America and various parts of Europe, he encountered painting and subsequently pursued self-taught artistic creation using a variety of methods.
Furthermore, by shifting his creative mediums to music and film, and through interactions with unique talents from various fields, he expanded the scope of his activities and artistic approaches.
Upon his return to Japan, his works, created using a novel style that involved meticulously burning paper with the faint flame of incense, were hailed as "Scorch Paintings®️, which have dramatically shifted contemporary painting in a completely different direction," and received significant media attention as a new form of contemporary art for the next generation.
He currently uses over 60 types of incense, varying them by temperature and thickness, to create his art by gradually burning the paper, without any preliminary sketches.
Based on the fading memories of his youth, shaped by these unique experiences, he has established his own distinct painting styles, including "Scorch Paintings®️," created with the subtle burn marks from incense, as well as the "Scrape Works" series, which involves carving out layers of color, and the "Scratch Works" series. These works are garnering significant attention both domestically and internationally.
