Introducing Atelier MIHARAYASUHIRO, a Shop Specializing in Shoes

Tokyo's Harajuku district welcomes Atelier MIHARAYASUHIRO, a new boutique dedicated to footwear, the item designer Yasuhiro Mihara holds dearest. The shop will also offer exclusive products and host regular events.

A Workshop Adjoins the Boutique

Mihara Yasuhiro, renowned for incorporating Japanese traditional techniques into his collections and for his distinctive designs that garner international acclaim, has opened Atelier Mihara Yasuhiro. This new boutique, which opened on December 5th, focuses on shoes, the very origin of Yasuhiro Mihara's creative journey.

Mihara himself directed the interior design. A striking, oversized chandelier dominates the center of the space, complemented by vintage European furnishings. The shop's name, rendered on the walls, was drawn by Mihara using chalk. The collection features the brand's signature "burned-out" technique and "half-and-half" designs on classic footwear, alongside reissued pieces from past acclaimed collections. Primarily for men, the boutique will also formally accept requests for semi-custom orders, a service long in demand.

The adjoining workshop is another highlight of the boutique. Yoshikazu Hayakawa, Mihara's mentor in shoemaking, is based here, offering direct advice on the characteristics and appeal of the shoes, as well as shoe-cleaning services. The workshop is equipped with specialized sewing machines and tools for footwear, and shoe repair services are also available.

The boutique also showcases vintage clothing that inspired Mihara's designs. Furthermore, plans are underway to sell one-of-a-kind remade items crafted from archival pieces and vintage garments. Regular events will be held at the boutique, with information to be announced on the Mihara Yasuhiro official website.
