Performance Wear Meets Chic Style

The "Louis Vuitton 2054" collection by Virgil Abloh offers items that blend the functionality of performance wear with fashionable design. A key feature is how pieces transform through compression, presenting new possibilities in fashion.

Transforming Fashion

"Louis Vuitton 2054" is a new performance and tech line realized by Men's Artistic Director Virgil Abloh.

It fuses the present with 1854, the year the Maison was founded, embodying the desire to remain an indispensable part of customers' wardrobes even 200 years after its establishment.

The collection is crafted from fully waterproof technical materials, including key knitwear and specially treated calf leather, and was released as part of the Spring/Summer 2020 collection.

Virgil Abloh continuously pursues the evolution of staple items that form the foundation of daily wardrobes, proposing multifunctional yet everyday pieces inspired by performance wear.

A notable feature is the "Compressomophosis" (compression + change) technique, first unveiled in the Fall/Winter 2019 Pre-Collection. Depending on the item, pocket details can be altered, and the entire garment can be compressed for travel.

For example, a padded overshirt with multiple zippers, designed for easy transformation, can be compressed and stored in its back pocket, turning it into a trekking pillow.

A windbreaker, characterized by its front pocket, transforms into a pouch when the entire garment is folded and stored within it.

Furthermore, a military parka with a padded quilted lining can be separated into two jackets from its outer shell. The collection's greatest feature is its array of items filled with diverse possibilities.

The parachute pants, featuring a "Monogram" relief, are equipped with detachable cargo pockets. The pocket details are a signature born from "Accessoryphosis" (the fusion of bags and wear), a recurring theme in Virgil Abloh's collections.

New details adopted this season also warrant attention.

The chest pockets and pant pocket flaps are adorned with 3D initial motifs reminiscent of car emblems.

The "Monogram" has also been reinterpreted, appearing as a trompe-l'oeil motif mimicking embossing, with a tie-dye camouflage rainbow.

Additionally, bags made from technical materials mixed with embossed leather and puffer leather are featured. The addition of transparent plastic hardware details enhances the collection's value of multifunctionality and transformable appearance.

The footwear lineup includes black nylon boots with trail sneaker soles and black leather utility sneakers, drawing design inspiration from military and outdoor wardrobes.

Accessories include extra-large scarves that can be rolled like a mat, water-repellent bucket hats, and rainbow-colored chain accessories.

This collection merges wildness with style, its greatest appeal being items that are practical for both nature and the city.
