New York Preppy Meets Outdoor Style
The inspiration for Band of Outsiders' Autumn/Winter 2010 collection is Woody Allen's 1973 film "Sleeper." The film, which Allen directed, wrote, starred in, and scored, is a sci-fi comedy about a man who sleeps for 200 years, awakens in a future society, and struggles to adapt to an unfamiliar world. Based on the atmosphere of the futuristic city and the historical context of the film's release, the collection draws inspiration from a variety of genres and elements. These include the ambiance of ski lodges in Aspen, a premier American ski resort town in the 1970s when the film was released; the style of Joan Didion, a leading American female non-fiction writer of the 1960s-70s; street vendors, a symbol of the era's backdrop; and the atmosphere of Manhattan during a winter with heavy snowfall and flooding. These diverse influences converge to shape this season's collection.
Simultaneously announced was "Boy. by Band of Outsiders," a women's brand that strongly emphasizes neo-preppy style, rooted in American classics.
Band of Outsiders, led by designer Scott, consistently elevates American trad from the 60s and 70s into beautiful, new styles using traditional materials and modern techniques. We invite you to feel the inspiration of this New York Collection leader through the visuals.
