The design is based on bags used by German sailors

"KREIS" is a factory that has been operating in Frankfurt, Germany for over 50 years. They hold master craftsman qualifications and currently produce a wide range of products from belts and wallets to bags. The bag introduced this time was inspired by the design of bags traditionally used by German sailors and has been redesigned for town use. The ability to change its shape as needed is also something I find very German.

Uses cordovan from HORWEEN, equivalent to three horses

The bag uses cordovan from no less than three horses. There are only a few manufacturers in the world that can supply such large pieces of cordovan for a bag. It requires three horses because one horse's hindquarters are used for one side, and additional pieces are used for the bottom and other parts.

The lining is made of kangaroo leather. Kangaroo leather is attractive because it is durable even when thin and very lightweight. Furthermore, the connection of cordovan to cordovan is intentionally made part of the design. This is a masterpiece that could only be completed by those who fully understand the craftsmanship and the leather.

KREIS | KREIS
Founded in 1963 by craftsman Eric Kreis (who obtained his master craftsman qualification in '65) in Frankfurt, a city in west-central Germany, KREIS is a manufacturer of belts and leather accessories. Although the factory remains small and production volume is limited, they continue to create robust, high-quality leather items, characteristic of German craftsmanship, using only fine leather and fabrics, and leveraging the skills of experienced artisans. They began working with cordovan after being inspired by Alden's cordovan shoes, and like Alden, KREIS uses leather from the American Horween company for all its cordovan products. The products lavishly use luxurious leather not only for the exterior but also for the interior construction and lining. The supple touch upon holding is pleasing, and the charm of cordovan lies in how its color and luster deepen with use.
