Introducing the "On The Road" line, inspired by the Beat Generation

Wool Ties: A Double Collaboration with Harris Tweed

An indispensable tweed tie for a Brooklyn Ivy style. This season, "FAIRFAX" presents wool ties crafted in a double collaboration with "HARRIS TWEED," released under its own label "ON THE ROAD."

Robust Fabric, Diverse Lineup

"On The Road" is a label developed as a separate line by tie brand "Fairfax." It reinterprets the Ivy style, once considered elite fashion in the 1930s, by infusing it with a modern, rugged sensibility.

The brand name is inspired by the Beat Generation, which emerged from downtown New York. It is named in homage to Jack Kerouac's novel of the same title, chronicling his journey from New York to Los Angeles.

"Harris Tweed," used for the ties introduced here, originated around the 18th century on the islands of Harris and Lewis in northwestern Scotland. The wool comes from sheep raised in the Harris region, and islanders still perform all processes, from yarn selection to spinning, entirely by hand in their homes.

The fabric woven from these hand-spun yarns on handlooms is Harris Tweed. Its appeal lies in its rugged texture and natural, rustic feel. One secret to its unique character is the incorporation of "kemp" (visible white fibers) into the new wool, among other meticulous techniques. The dyes, derived from plant roots and stems, also impart a natural aroma.

Today, the "Harris Tweed" name is managed collectively by the Harris Tweed Authority. Only fabrics that meet strict criteria—including wool and spinning originating from the Harris region, and passing all standards for dyeing, wool density, and weight—are granted the label.

These are narrow ties with a blade width of 6.5cm. Despite their rugged fabric, they are easy to tie. Available in a diverse lineup from solid colors to vibrant checks, these wool ties offer a chance to find one that expresses your individual style.
