Creative Director Profile
Kean Etro
Born in Milan in 1964, the second son of ETRO founder Gimmo Etro. He studied medieval and modern history at Cambridge University and the University of Milan.
His experiences led him to adopt "travel" and "discovery" as fundamental themes, fueling his research and curiosity, which have culminated in his current creative output. Like his mother, an antique dealer, he possesses a deep knowledge of antique art and is a collector of books across all genres, from ancient to contemporary.
After joining ETRO in 1984, he served as the art director for the seasonal catalogs from 1990 onwards, overseeing the brand's image. In March 1997, he was appointed Creative Director for the womenswear and menswear collections. Subsequently, in the Spring/Summer 1999 collection, his sister Veronica took over as Director for the womenswear collections.
It is no exaggeration to say that Kean's energy and lofty vision to this day have been instrumental in establishing ETRO menswear and elevating ETRO to become one of the "Top 10 Best-Selling Brands Worldwide." He currently works alongside his elder brother Jacopo, younger brother Ippolito, and sister Veronica, dedicating their efforts to building and advancing the ETRO brand.
