The 30th Installment
A Tale of "Clothing": Cufflinks, Part 1
Cufflinks, as the name suggests, are fasteners that link (link) the buttonholes of a shirt's cuffs (cuff). They are an attractive item that allows for subtle expression of individuality.

Accessories Were Originally for Men
While there are various theories about the origin of cufflinks, the most prominent suggests they emerged in 17th-century France. In essence, accessories were "symbols of wealth and power" for men, seemingly used by kings and nobles to flaunt their "class."
At the time, it was common for aristocrats to wear decorative buttons. Paintings from the Middle Ages often depict men adorned with frilly collars and cuffs, and buttons embellished with gold and jewels.
However, since shirt cuffs required frequent washing, these decorative buttons are thought to have evolved into the form of cufflinks we know today – easily removable fasteners.
In the 19th century, with the decline of the aristocracy, who had previously led fashion trends, the clothing worn by nobles and commoners gradually began to converge. Men's fashion shifted towards simpler, more functional styles.
Consequently, designs evolved to focus on practical items like watches, glasses, and cufflinks, which then rapidly gained widespread popularity.
This Year's "M.Y. LABEL" New Cufflinks
At "M.Y. LABEL," we have released new cufflinks every year since the brand's inception. This is simply because I am fond of cufflinks.
Though small, they serve as a valuable spice to complete an outfit.

Let me introduce this spring's new collection. These are cufflinks, yet when worn, they truly resemble buttons.
We have dyed mother-of-pearl in 20 vibrant colors. Whether viewed from the front or back, the design is understated, like a simple button, which allows them to be worn without appearing ostentatious.
Try coordinating them with your shirt and tie colors, or wear different colors depending on your mood. Enjoy them as you please.

Additionally, these round, plump cufflinks were designed with a slightly traditional look in mind. Pairing a sporty jacket with a double-cuffed shirt, for instance, offers a fresh, adult way to dress down with a subtle twist.
They come in two refined colors: gold and silver. You can choose your own initials, hand-engraved, for each cuff.
Perhaps many of you haven't had the experience of wearing cufflinks. Even if you're hesitant about accessories, cufflinks are likely an easy entry point. Regardless of age, please do give them a try.
